Congratulations to Penny and Neal for the successful wedding. I certainly enjoyed myself and the opportunity to meet more of Neal and Penny's family. Marie had promised to do a detailed write-up in this forum, but alas she welched. Suffice to say that Penny looked stunning and Neal, well, he scrubbed up okay. I urge interested readers to check out the photos on Neal's wedding page.
Other news from Gregland:
- I've been accepted to present a paper at a conference in Italy in the middle of the year. This is very exciting for me and I'm hoping to bum around in Europe for a bit (again!).
- We had a housewarming party here at the end of March. The theme was "So OZ it hurts" and we celebrated Australian culture with Oz music, pies, costumes, prizes and of course beer. Photos may yet end up on here somewhere.
- Marie and I saw quite a bit of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this year. I saw about a dozen acts, including the ones I snuck into and watched on telly, ranging from traditional stand-up through mock-lectures, yarns and one-man shows. Highlights for me were Maria Bamford and Andrew McClelland's Somewhat Accurate History of Pirates
- I'm still persisting with meine deutschsprechen Lektionen. I have finally learnt how to talk about things that happened in the past using the present perfect (or conversational) tense. This opens up a whole new world of mistakes. (I feel very sorry for non-native English speakers learning about our peculiar past tense constructions like "I have had fun").
- I've continued my crank letter writing campaign to The Age with mixed success.
